Somewhere between the piles of work stacked high on our desks and the endless business meetings, it can be easy to lose sight of things that are really important – like taking a moment to lend a helping hand.
When we first heard about local Miami non-profit Style Saves, we knew we wanted to help them however we could. Founded by celebrity fashion stylist Rachael Russell, and friends Maxie Villanueva and Jeffrey Rodriguez, the mission of Style Saves is to help underprivileged children in Miami gain self confidence through something the fashionable trio knows best: Style.
It’s difficult to argue with the idea that when we look good, we feel good. The concept is simple, effective and has become the foundation for Style Saves, which (congratulations!) is fast approaching its first anniversary.
On April 19th, we helped Style Saves hold a fundraiser to raise money that will help serve their mission of styling underprivileged children for their first day back at school, or, as the founders like to put it, “building confidence through clothes.”
Held at Wood Tavern, a trendy neighborhood bar in Wynwood that boasts a rather impressive beer garden, the event set the stage for an evening of Bingo playing and sangria tasting.
With their $20 donation, guests enjoyed free sangria tasting and unlimited rounds of Bingo, as well as scrumptious mini cupcakes donated by Stella’s Sweet Shoppe. Prizes were graciously donated by businesses from all over Miami and included certificates to The Front Porch Café, Cecconi’s, and WaxMee, as well a month membership to CHALK Ping Pong & Billiards Lounge.
Doing Our Part
We have a special place in our hearts for the work Style Saves is doing; after all, we’re an agency that believes in self-expression and creativity. To help with the event, some of our own creative team attended to help promote it with social media coverage and a round of Evites to help spread the word.
More than 60 guests and $1,200 in donations later, we’re proud to say Style Saves is on a roll! We couldn’t be happier to be helping a such great group of young individuals.
And the fashionable bunch won’t be sitting still for long. Next up on the schedule for Style Saves is their One Year Anniversary party at Soho Beach House. The chic soiree, which will include a full fashion show, is going to be a great time for an even better cause.
