One of the main events for us social media interns at LGD this week has been the start up of our very own Twitter, @LGDInternIsland! Not only is our fantastic wit and sarcastic demeanor a great means of entertainment, but also another opportunity to do social promotion for LGD.
After interning for only a few weeks, I have learned the important lesson of the power of social media. Through @LGDInternIsland, we can gain a demographic that we normally wouldn’t have the opportunity to grasp hold of – people just like us! Our main Twitter account, @LGDcomm, as well as a link to our main website are mentioned our “bio” as an easy gateway for followers to learn more about the company.
As interns, we do virtually everything together: eat lunch at the same restaurants, work on the same projects, and yes, occasionally think the same thoughts. The Twitter account is a perfect channel for us to express our gratitude/food comas to surrounding restaurants that we visit. These restaurants often tweet us back, and in turn, have the prospect of learning more about LGD as a whole!
We also tend love to huff and puff about random things that interns around the world can relate to (“Is it lunchtime yet?), as well as ridiculous things that we find ourselves saying (“I think I’m going to take up smoking so I can take cigarette breaks”). The followers that enjoy these tweets, in turn, learn more about the company we work for and the clients we strive to make easily available to the public.
The Value of Tweeting
As much as we huff and puff, we love being interns at LGD and love the fact that we get to do something as fun as this. Incorporating social media into seemingly menial things (the adventures of interns), can truly make a deep impact on what LGD has to offer. One tweet leads to another, leads to another, leads to another, and BOOM! LGD and LGD’s clients gain more and more recognition with every click.
