“It is all around us. You can see it when you look out your window, or when you turn on your television. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.”
Someone once told me that good salesmen know their product and strive to immerse themselves in it. As a business developer for a top Internet marketing company, instead of the day to day pitching new clients, I chose to broaden my understanding of the unique online marketing services we provide to our clients day in and day out.
When I approached my Internet marketing manager with sheer curiosity and eagerness to develop my background in SEO, he responded in a way that sounded all too familiar, “Look this over, if you’re still interested, you can stay in wonderland and I’ll show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.”
Morpheus much?
Transitioning from the outside world to the underground of a leading Internet marketing company has at times left me muttering, “Why oh why didn’t I take the blue pill?” While it was tedious and difficult to free my mind from a point of view I had held so long about how the Internet worked, downloading every article related to SEO started to make feel like “I know Kung Fu.” After a while the techie-jargon is like “eating the same God d*mn goop everyday” and the how and why these terms function in an online marketing strategy all starts to make sense.
So, “What is real, how you define real?”
As I entered into the realm of On-Site SEO and the importance of keywords, real is nothing more than creating unique content with terms that align with what users are most commonly plugging into their search engines. The further I investigated this topic, the more it made me realize “there’s a war going on out there” – and we’re right in the middle of it.
“Charge The EMP”
The topic of link building and content creation reveals what separates “The One” from “the agents”. Google’s coveted Pagerank 10 (Zion, as far as I’m concerned), is what fuels the White Hat vs. Black Hat battle for the online marketing universe. While many “SEO Specialists” believe black hat methods can increase site traffic and build authority within the Google ranks, it’s only a minor, quick-and-dirty solution. Spamming on related niche blogs to create artificial inbound links to your site is like Morpheus giving the order to shut down the Nebuchadnezzar. It may work for a moment, but unless have your EMP charged Google’s Sentinels are still going to find you!
“You think that’s air you’re breathing?”
When it comes to SEO, the old addage rings true: “Content is king.” Organic, unique content creation is the only true way to build a sustainable link-building strategy. This is what Google weighs on the heaviest in considering a site for their ranks.
