Never having participated in an internship before, I didn’t know what to expect when I showed up on my first day at LGD Communications, nervous as a kid on her first day of school.
Eager to soak up as much information as possible, I embarked on this journey as an intern with high hopes and expectations. Now in my second week of the internship, I have some time to reflect on what I have learned as well as my goals for the upcoming weeks.
In the back of my head I always knew somehow that I had good writing skills, although I was definitely apprehensive in admitting it. After being here for two weeks and practicing both blogging and press releases, I now feel I have the confidence in my writing that I believe is warranted.
Everyone at LGD has sincerely given me the feedback that I need to make my work even better in regards to SEO, which is an imperative thing to know in this business.
Learning New Skills
Besides working on my writing skills, I’d have to say the most valuable thing that I have learned overall in these last couple of weeks is the process of developing and implementing a social media campaign. From high-end luxury real estate to local supermarkets, LGD tailors their marketing plan to ensure that every client’s needs are met to the fullest.
In order to do this effectively, we utilize the strengths of the team to understand the individual needs of each client, and then cater a plan to meet those needs using a customized repertoire of media outlets.
Our constant web presence shows potential and loyal customers that our clients are trustworthy and stable brands who are worthy of doing business with.
Now that I’ve seen firsthand the basics of implementing a social media campaign, I hope that in the next few weeks I can expand upon this by participating in more of the process. I can’t wait to learn how to use Google Analytics and WordPress for business.
So far, I’m learning so much and receiving real world training at LGD everyday. It’s great to see that it’s matching what I’m learning in grad school. I can’t wait to see what the weeks ahead will bring.
